Skills & Research Interests

Generally, I am interested in understanding historical patterns of state and economic development within Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Several modern economic theories and models struggle to explain long term development of these regions. Building data and focused research can help create region specific solutions to obstacles of economic growth.

For this reason, I co-founded and organise the Asia Economic History Seminar series, as well as co-organised the South Asia Economic History Workshop 2021 at the LSE Economic History department. These sessions are designed to foster collaboration and increase awareness of the issues that have affected long term development in these regions.
